Who we are

ShipboardAI is a practice of Petronella Technology Group (PTG). For privacy questions you can reach us at hello@shipboardai.com.

What we collect

We only collect information you give us directly, plus the minimum telemetry needed to run the site:

• Contact form. When you submit the form on /contact, we collect the name, email address, company or vessel, role, fleet size, services of interest, and message you provide. We use this to reply to your inquiry.
• Newsletter. If you subscribe to The Watch, we pass your email address to Buttondown, our newsletter provider. You can unsubscribe from any email we send.
• Analytics. We use PostHog and Vercel Analytics to understand which pages visitors read. These tools collect standard web request data (page URL, referrer, user agent, approximate location from IP) and may set first-party cookies or local storage entries.
• Spam protection. The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which inspects request signals to distinguish humans from bots. It does not track you across sites.

How we use it

• To respond to inquiries and deliver the services you ask about.
• To send the newsletter if you subscribed.
• To measure traffic and understand which content is useful, so we can write more of it.
• To protect the site and its visitors from abuse.

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for their marketing. We do not use your data to train machine learning models.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of vendors to run the site. Each processes data only as needed to deliver its piece:

• Vercel (hosting, edge delivery, first-party analytics)
• Postmark (transactional email for contact form replies)
• Buttondown (newsletter delivery)
• PostHog (product analytics)
• Cloudflare (Turnstile anti-spam, email routing)
• Unsplash (image CDN for post hero images)
• OnceHub (scheduling widget on the contact page)

Cookies and similar technologies

We use first-party cookies and local storage only to keep the analytics tools above working. We do not run third-party advertising cookies or retargeting pixels. Most browsers let you block cookies or delete existing ones; blocking them will not break the site.

How long we keep it

Contact form submissions live in our email archives for as long as we need them to support the client relationship. Newsletter subscriber data is kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to the defaults of PostHog and Vercel Analytics.

Your rights

If you are in the EU, UK, California, or another jurisdiction with data protection rights, you can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you. Write to hello@shipboardai.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Children

The site is aimed at commercial buyers. It is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If we materially change how we handle your information, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. For minor clarifications we may update without notice.
