Where maritime heritage meets artificial intelligence
ShipboardAI brings together expertise from defense AI, cybersecurity, and operating at sea to close the last great gap in enterprise computing: the open ocean.
The maritime industry generates more data than almost any other sector on Earth. Every modern vessel is a floating sensor platform: thousands of data points from propulsion, navigation, environmental monitoring, and guest systems streaming continuously. Yet very little of that data is processed where it is created, because the cloud stops at the shoreline.
We started ShipboardAI because the technology to close that gap already exists. GPUs small enough to fit a rack, open-weight models capable enough to run real workloads, and networking hardware built for constrained links. What is missing is the engineering discipline to make all of it work reliably on a moving vessel with limited connectivity, variable power, and no tolerance for downtime.
We do not sell software subscriptions or cloud credits. We design, specify, and deploy sovereign AI infrastructure that operates independently of shore-side systems, so that when a vessel is mid-ocean, its AI does not go offline with the satellite link.
Who we work with
ShipboardAI is a practice of Petronella Technology Group, a cybersecurity and AI consulting firm with two decades of experience in compliance-driven environments including CMMC, HIPAA, SOC 2, and NIST frameworks. PTG brings the security engineering and assessment discipline; ShipboardAI brings the maritime domain expertise and on-vessel deployment experience.
Our web and digital infrastructure is built in partnership with VenueCloud, a full-service web development and hosting firm that has been building production infrastructure for enterprise clients since 1999.
What guides us
№ 01
Reliability
When you're 2,000 nautical miles from the nearest port, the software has to keep running. We design for the link being down, not being up.
№ 02
Innovation
Maritime AI is an unsolved frontier. We push on what is possible in bandwidth-constrained, power-limited, motion-intensive environments.
№ 03
Discretion
Private vessels expect private vendors. We operate under NDA by default, and we do not name clients, vessels, or routes without written permission.
№ 04
Ownership
You own the hardware, the weights, and the data. No subscriptions that expire mid-ocean, no vendor switches we can flip from shore. Sovereignty is the point.

Own your AI. Own your data. Keep working when the link drops.
Whether you're a single superyacht or a fleet of cruise ships, we design and deploy sovereign AI that stays yours: on the vessel, off the cloud, under your control.
